Hey there, I’m Zack Esau. I am a Director & Photographer, working and living in the Niagara Region.
At a young age, I found myself playing around with cameras that good friends were given. We made Fun movies with web cams, for school projects or just because we had some time to have fun during the weekends.
My whole life had been building up to me going to film school. From failing a class in highschool, so I took a night school class called Film Studies, to finding out I had an eye for images from my years of art classes and drawings.
Getting accepted to Film School was meant to be. Having grades much higher in art classes than the rest Film Schools were thrilled to see me come in. Finding out that Film blends every Art and Trade into a brilliant slue of organized wonder, I was hooked.
Following film school I found that sales was where I fit in the real world. Working at Blacks Photography I increased my love for visuals and cameras. It wasn’t until 2018 when I realized that photography was a bigger part of my life than I ever wanted it to be.
To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.

Quitting my day job, I upgraded my camera and focussed on learning what I needed to know to go into Photography. My years in film have taught me things that I never would have gained going into it right out of college. It built my eye for angles, and colours that film doesn’t have until you go onto a computer.
My style is often called “Cinematic”, by my piers and friends. This is grown from years working with movement of a camera and seeing things through the eyes of a lens. When editing I do not use my personal preference to colour and change but I think to the individuals and the environments to help influence the style of the photos.
